Connect Grok to UnderSelf, on the web, in the app and in a Tesla

Open grok.com/connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom, paste https://api.underself.io/mcp and sign in to UnderSelf. Grok should then be able to read and add to your dream journal, and you can try asking about your dreams by voice in a Tesla.

Not yet verified by us.Grok supports custom MCP connectors with OAuth sign in, the same open standard UnderSelf uses, so it should connect the way Claude does. We have not tested Grok or the Tesla path ourselves yet. If you try it, tell us how it went at info@underself.io.

xAI's documentation says connectors are available to Grok users on the web, iOS and Android. If you do not see Connectors, your Grok plan may not include custom connectors yet. On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin adds a connector before members can use it. See every supported app.

Connect in Grok, on the web or in the app

  1. Open connectors

    On the web, go to grok.com/connectors. In the Grok app, tap the + icon.

  2. Choose a custom connector

    Choose New Connector, then Custom. This is where Grok takes a server that is not in its catalog.

  3. Paste the UnderSelf URL

    Enter https://api.underself.io/mcp as the MCP server URL and continue.

  4. Sign in to UnderSelf

    Grok opens the UnderSelf consent page. Sign in with Google or Apple, using the account that holds your dream journal.

  5. Check and approve

    Read what Grok will be able to do: read your dreams, readings and patterns, and record new dreams and request readings. Tap Approve.

  6. Try it

    Back in Grok, say: "Log this dream: I was in a house with extra rooms." Grok should save it and read you the reading.

Use it in a Tesla

Never set this up while driving.Connecting happens on your phone or computer, in the Grok app or on grok.com. There is no setup step in the car, and the consent page should never be opened behind the wheel. Park first, or set it up at home.

Tesla announced on 22 September 2026 that Grok in its cars can use your Grok connectors. The car does not have its own connector step: it relies on the connectors already linked to your Grok account. So once UnderSelf is connected in the Grok app or on the web, Grok in your Tesla may be able to reach your journal by voice.

Whether it does depends on xAI and Tesla: your car's software, your Grok subscription and whether custom connectors are offered in the car at all. We have not tried it yet. If it works for you, or it does not, please tell us at info@underself.io.

Troubleshooting

  • Grok cannot finish the sign in. Try again from grok.com in a desktop browser. If it still fails, tell us what Grok showed you.
  • "The connection to UnderSelf has expired". A connection lapses after 30 days without use and after 90 days at most. Remove the connector in Grok and add it again.
  • A limit message. New dreams and readings use your plan's limits, the same as the app. The message links to plans.

Disconnect

Open app.underself.io/account, go to Connected apps and tap Disconnect next to Grok. Or remove the connector in Grok's connector settings. Grok's access, wherever you use Grok, stops within 15 minutes.
