Connect Gemini to UnderSelf

Standard MCP

On gemini.google.com, open Settings, Connected Apps, then Add a custom app under Custom apps, paste https://api.underself.io/mcp and sign in to UnderSelf. This follows Google's own documented flow; we have not tested it end to end ourselves yet.

Not yet verified by us.Gemini takes custom apps by MCP server URL, the same open standard UnderSelf uses, so it should connect. We have not run it ourselves yet. If you try it, tell us how it went at info@underself.io.

Before you start

  • Google's help center lists what custom apps need: you are 18 or over and in the US, you sign in to Gemini with a personal Google Account (not a work or school account), and Keep Activity is on.
  • You add a custom app in the Gemini web app. Google says it is then available in the Gemini mobile app too.

See every supported app if Gemini is not the right fit.

Connect Gemini

  1. Open Connected Apps

    Go to gemini.google.com on a computer, open Settings, then Connected Apps.

  2. Add a custom app

    Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app.

  3. Paste the UnderSelf URL

    Enter https://api.underself.io/mcp as the MCP server URL. UnderSelf supports dynamic client registration, so leave the advanced credential fields empty. Select Next.

  4. Sign in and approve

    Follow the on screen steps to the UnderSelf consent page. Sign in with Google or Apple, check what Gemini will be able to do, and tap Approve.

  5. Try it

    Back in Gemini, say: "Log this dream: I was in a house with extra rooms."

If it does not connect

  • No Custom apps section. Check the requirements above. Google says custom apps are unavailable with a work or school account, or with Keep Activity switched off.
  • Sign in fails. Try again in a desktop browser, then write to info@underself.io with what Gemini showed.
  • Developers: read the full OAuth and error reference.

Disconnect

Open app.underself.io/account, go to Connected apps and tap Disconnect next to Gemini. Or remove the custom app in Gemini's Connected Apps. Its access stops within 15 minutes.
