Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the UnderSelf mobile app and the underself.io website (together, the "Service"), operated by UnderSelf ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

What UnderSelf is — and is not

UnderSelf is a self-reflection tool. It uses AI to help you record dreams and life entries, explore possible meanings, and notice patterns over time.

UnderSelf is not a medical or mental-health service. It does not provide diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are in crisis or concerned about your mental health, contact a healthcare professional or your local emergency services.

Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping access to your account secure.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Subscriptions and billing

• Parts of the Service require a paid subscription. All purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their terms; we never receive your payment card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies.
• Usage allowances (for example, the number of AI analyses or custom meditations per period) depend on your plan and may evolve; material changes are announced in-app.

Your content

• Your entries — dreams, notes, recordings, images — remain yours.
• You grant us the limited license needed to operate the Service: storing your content, transcribing it, and processing it with our AI providers to generate the analyses and audio you request. We do not sell your content or use it to train third-party models.
• You can export or delete your content, or your whole account, at any time.

AI-generated content

Analyses, interpretations, meditations, and other AI-generated outputs are automatically produced reflections, not statements of fact or professional advice. They may be inaccurate or incomplete. Use your own judgment about what resonates and what to act on.

Acceptable use

• Don't attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or misuse the Service.
• Don't use the Service to violate the law or the rights of others.
• Don't resell or redistribute the Service or its outputs as your own product.

Intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, brand, and non-user content such as guided meditations — belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms don't grant you any rights to it beyond normal personal use of the app.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, with notice where practicable.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes are announced in-app before they take effect; continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of the Service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
