UnderSelf — Privacy Policy

UnderSelf ("we", "us") is operated by UnderSelf. This policy explains what we collect when you use the UnderSelf mobile app on iOS or Android, and how we handle the permissions we request.

Permissions we request

• Microphone & voice recording — Used only when you tap record to capture a dream, note, or chat message. Audio is sent to our servers for transcription and AI analysis. We do not record in the background.
• Location — Used only when you explicitly attach a location to an entry. We do not track your location in the background.
• Notifications — Used to remind you to log entries and to alert you when an analysis is ready. You can disable notifications anytime in your device settings.
• Photos / camera — Only when you attach an image to an entry. Images are uploaded only when you choose to attach them.

You may grant or revoke any permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking a permission only disables the related feature; the rest of the app continues to work.

What we collect

• Your account info (email, name, optional avatar) when you sign up or sign in with Google/Apple.
• Entries you create: text, voice recordings, transcripts, attached images or location, and AI-generated analyses.
• Basic device and crash data needed to keep the app working.

How we use it

• To run the features you use (transcription, AI analysis, sync across devices).
• To improve reliability and fix bugs.
• We do not sell your data and we do not use your entries to train third-party models.

Storage and sharing

• Data is stored on our servers (PostgreSQL, MinIO object storage) and processed by trusted providers (Google/Firebase for auth, OpenAI/Anthropic for AI features). These providers process data only to deliver the requested feature.
• Voice recordings and transcripts are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Your rights

• View, export, or delete your entries from inside the app.
• Delete your account at any time — this permanently removes your data from our servers within 30 days.
• Email us to request a copy of all data tied to your account.

Children

UnderSelf is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
